CIC Therapy Dog Training Registration

This 10-week class prepares your dog and you to become a CIC social-emotional therapy dog team and volunteer in our school partnered sessions! Throughout the training your dog and you will:

  • Learn the CIC course and curriculum ™

  • Learn therapy dog work through a trauma informed lens

  • Learn calming techniques to support yourself, your dog, and your community

  • Use tools specific to CIC programming to connect with your dog and community members

Attendance at the first and final class sessions are mandatory. You will not bring your dog to the first session. Evaluations will be held on the final day of class. In order to be eligible for evaluation participants can miss no more than 1 class session. Anyone who wishes to volunteer as a CIC therapy dog team must be present with their dog throughout training.

Completion of CIC’s Therapy Dog Training and passing evaluation allows for your dog and you to be added to CIC’s list volunteer of therapy dog teams. Other traditional therapy dog opportunities at hospitals, senior care facilities, libraries, hospice, etc. are possible, but do require the team to create a contact at a specific facility and inquire about opportunities.

Participants must be able to tolerate other dogs. Proof of canine vaccination is not required, however it is expected that all canine participants will be up-to-date on their canine parvovirus, distemper, canine hepatitis, rabies, and bordetella.
