Grooming Skills Workshop
Grooming Skills Workshop
Make grooming less stressful—for both you and your dog! CIC’s Grooming Skills Workshop will introduce you to cooperative care: a training approach that teaches dogs to actively participate in their own grooming and handling. Instead of simply tolerating or avoiding nail trims, brushing, or ear cleaning, dogs learn to give consent-based signals—like offering a paw, resting their chin, or holding still—that let you know they’re ready. This builds trust, reduces stress, and creates a more positive experience for everyone involved. The Grooming Skills Workshop involves TRAINING your dog for grooming & care, it will NOT involve doing the grooming in the training session.
Led by CIC trainer Bethany Kratochvil, this one-hour workshop focuses on practical, positive training techniques you can start using right away. You’ll learn how to:
Teach cooperative care skills that help your dog willingly engage in grooming
Learn about the scratch pad and how to teach your dog to file their own nails
Build your dog’s comfort and confidence with different tools
Recognize subtle signs of stress and use Fear Free strategies to support your dog
Practice techniques that can be adapted for every day life
After the workshop, enjoy an optional 30-minute Q&A with Bethany to get personalized guidance for your dog’s unique needs.
